**Location & Facilities**
Slate Creek Recreation Site is a small, developed BLM facility located 10 miles south of White Bird, Idaho on Highway 95 (mile post 215). The site features a boat launch, six campsites with tables and fire rings, and shade structures. This is a non-reservable, first-come, first-served facility with camping available at $10 per night per camper ($4 per additional vehicle). The 14-day stay limit makes it suitable for extended paddling trips. Contact: 208-962-3245.

The Salmon River at this location is a major waterway with an average flow of 13,100 cfs and an average velocity of 5.22 feet/second. The Lower Salmon averages a 23.1 ft/mile gradient, making it a moderate to moderately-swift river suitable for intermediate to experienced paddlers. This stretch is accessible from late spring through fall, depending on water conditions and permit requirements.
