About This Access Site
Spring Cove Marina provides boat ramp access to Back Creek, a medium-sized river (Stream Order 5) located in Solomons, Calvert County. The marina is situated just north of red marker #8 in Back Creek, off the Patuxent River near its mouth at the Chesapeake Bay. This is a convenient launch point for exploring the lower Patuxent River system and the scenic waters of the bay region.

Back Creek flows through a substantial drainage area of 274 square miles with an average flow of approximately 259 cubic feet per second, making it suitable for recreational paddling and boating. The waters near this access point benefit from the marina's proximity to the Chesapeake Bay, offering relatively stable conditions for kayakers and canoeists. Contact the marina on VHF Channel 16 when approaching for docking and launch assistance.

Spring Cove Marina is a full-service facility offering fuel, pump-out services, ice, and other boater amenities. Non-resident access to the boat ramp requires a seasonal fee. The location is also near Naval Air Station Patuxent River and military recreation facilities, with nearby campgrounds available for those planning extended trips. This makes Spring Cove an excellent base for exploring the lower Patuxent River and Chesapeake Bay waters.
