About This Access Site
Tower Rock Recreation Site offers direct access to the Salmon River via a dedicated boat ramp, making it a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. Located 10 miles north of Salmon, ID on Highway 93, the site features six campsites ($5/night), picnic areas, vault toilets, and accessible fishing platforms. The BLM-managed facility includes a specialized disabled angler's fishing ramp and operates on a fee-area basis with designated parking.

The Salmon River at this location is a major waterway with substantial flow—averaging over 13,000 cubic feet per second—and a moderate gradient of 23.1 feet/mile. Paddlers should expect a fast-moving river with strong current typical of this section of the Salmon. The site is ideal for those planning multi-day floats, as it provides established camping and serves as a natural stopping point along the river corridor. Nearby alternatives include Morgan Bar Recreation Site (also with boat ramp access) and Wallace Lake Campground within 10 miles.
