About This Access Site
The US 59 Bridge public boat ramp provides access to the Sabine River in Panola County, located approximately 4.5 miles east of US Highway 59 via FM 2517 (about one mile past Loop 149 from Carthage). The ramp is situated on the northeast side of the bridge crossing. This is a leased public access area suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats.
The Sabine River at this location is a major waterway—a Stream Order 8 river with an average flow of 9,129 cubic feet per second and average velocity of 5.89 feet per second. The river has a gentle gradient of 0.8 feet per mile, making it generally suitable for paddlers of various skill levels, though current conditions should always be assessed before launching.
