Wildcat Creek (also known as Powwatka Bridge) is a convenient access point on the Grande Ronde River near Eden in Wallowa County. The ramp features a single grooved concrete launch slab approximately 20 feet wide with two launch lanes, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats. A large parking area accommodates vehicles with boat trailers, though note that there is no loading dock or restroom facilities at the site—only a picnic area is available.
This access point is popular for multi-day float trips on the Grande Ronde River. Many paddlers use Wildcat as a mid-trip takeout after launching from Minam on the Wallowa River, with typical float trips lasting 2-3 days. The site also works as a put-in for downstream sections of the river. Other access points in the area include Mud Creek, Troy, Boggan's Oasis, and Shumaker, allowing flexibility in planning your route. Come prepared with your own amenities, and plan ahead if you're coordinating a shuttle or multi-day expedition.
