About This Access Site
Wyeth Take Out is a concrete boat ramp access point on the Deschutes River near La Pine, offering a convenient take-out location for paddlers and boaters. The ramp is approximately 30 feet wide and suitable for launching and retrieving a variety of watercraft. The site includes picnic tables, fire pits, and vault toilets, with a nearby campground available for overnight stays. This is a non-reservable facility, making it a good option for day-use access.

The Deschutes River below Wickiup Reservoir is known as a slow, meandering, powerful waterway that's highly accessible and easy to drift. The section is renowned for supporting one of Oregon's best populations of stream-inhabiting German brown trout. Paddlers should be prepared for the river's powerful current and changing water conditions, particularly during irrigation season. Nearby reservoirs like Wickiup and Crane Prairie offer additional recreation opportunities in the Cascade Mountain region. Several campgrounds are available within 10 miles if you're planning an extended trip.
