About This Access Site
The Town of Yarmouth maintains an all-tide, two-lane public boat ramp at Yarmouth Boatyard on Shipyard Road, located at the head of tide on the Royal River. This is a well-developed access point with ample parking for both vehicles and trailers, a courtesy float, and professional marina facilities. The ramp accommodates all-tide launching, making it accessible at any water level—a significant advantage for paddlers and boaters planning their trips.

From this location on the Royal River in Yarmouth, paddlers have excellent access to nearby Casco Bay and its popular destinations, including Freeport, Chebeague Island, and Peaks Island, all within a short distance. The boatyard is a full-service facility that can support larger powerboats (slips available for vessels up to 46 feet) and offers additional services like hauling and pressure washing. This makes it a convenient base for both day trips and longer explorations of Casco Bay's islands and waterways.
