About This Access Site
Yellow Dog is a public boat ramp providing access to the Sabine River near Joaquin in Panola County. Located at Yellow Dog County Park at the end of CR 455 on the west side of the river, this access point offers parking and a maintained boat ramp suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boats. The site is administered by the Sabine River Authority and provides year-round access to the river.

The Sabine River at this location is a major waterway—a 520-mile river with a significant average flow of over 9,100 cubic feet per second and a moderate gradient of 0.8 feet per mile. Paddlers should expect a substantial river with moderate current and be prepared for the typical water conditions of a major Texas river system. This section is popular during spring white bass spawning runs, making it a good destination for both fishing and recreational paddling during warmer months.
