The Confluence Visitors Center provides a non-motorized boat launch on the Snake River in Lewiston, featuring a concrete ramp with a large parking and turnaround area. Located at the Snake River/Malad River confluence off Idaho Highway 30 and River Road, this BLM site includes separate raft launch facilities with a large pool for general boat launches and a back channel designed for rafts. Note that the raft launch area experiences swift water conditions with some deteriorated steps at the lower end.
Boaters and paddlers should be aware that the Snake River at this location is a major river system with significant flow (averaging nearly 50,000 cubic feet per second) and moderate gradient. This is a straightforward access point for launching kayaks, canoes, and rafts into a river with substantial current and flow. The site serves as a popular starting point for multi-day river trips, with numerous designated camping areas available downstream between established boat ramps on a first-come, first-serve basis. The nearby Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail adds historical significance to the area.
