About This Access Site
**Location & Access**
The Highway 10 Take-out is located on the Yakima River approximately 0.5 miles above the Town Diversion Dam, northwest of Ellensburg in Kittitas County. This WDFW-managed facility provides a convenient takeout point for paddlers and boaters floating the Yakima River. The take-out features a concrete boat ramp with ample parking and a pit toilet on-site.

**Practical Information**
This is primarily a takeout location with limited walk-and-wade access unless you're willing to bushwhack. The site is open year-round, though winter conditions can be challenging—the parking lot can become icy, and you may need to use a rope to help drag your boat up the ramp. From here, the Yakima River transitions into a broader, more substantial waterway with increased flow from the Teanaway River contribution. The float from upstream put-ins to this takeout typically requires at least 6 hours at a moderate fishing pace, making it suitable for a full-day paddling trip with limited alternative access options. The site primarily serves fishing and boating opportunities rather than day-use recreation.
