This popular access point serves the renowned "Roaring Rapids" section of the Peshtigo River, featuring nearly 5 miles of continuous Class II-IV whitewater. Paddlers can expect seven major rapids including named features like First Drop (Class III-IV) and S-Curve Rapids (Class III), interspersed with smaller Class I-II rapids. The river starts wide and shallow before entering the rapids section, offering varied conditions for intermediate to experienced paddlers.
**Parking and Facilities:** Parking is available on Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) property near Johnson Falls Dam and along angler access roads on state forest property. The public boat landing at WPS Landing #12 serves as a convenient takeout, with an alternative private landing at Kosir's at County Highway C. Be aware that this section is maintained as a trout fishery, so expect to encounter wading anglers on the river.
**Important Note:** This section has supported three commercial rafting outfitters since the 1970s and remains a hub of Wisconsin's boating community. If planning a commercial trip, reservations are required with operators like Kosir's Whitewater Rafting. Paddlers should have intermediate to advanced skills to safely navigate the Class III-IV rapids in this section.
