About This Access Site
**Location & Access**
Trappers Flat is located on the north side of the Snake River, 10.7 miles downstream of Walters Ferry near Caldwell, accessible via Map Rock Road. The site offers a concrete boat ramp, restrooms, picnic areas, and a dump station, making it a convenient launching point for day trips and overnight outings.

**River Conditions & Suitability**
The Snake River at this location is a major waterway with significant flow (averaging ~49,000 cubic feet/second) and moderate current. This ramp works best for small to medium-sized boats; larger vessels may face challenges launching. Be aware that aquatic weed accumulation can occur during warmer months, potentially affecting launch and recovery operations. The river's considerable size and average velocity of 10.8 feet/second make it suitable for experienced paddlers and boaters who are comfortable with moving water.

**Nearby Recreation**
The area offers excellent side-trip opportunities, including Jump Creek—featuring a scenic waterfall and riparian habitat—and Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge, one of the oldest in the National Wildlife Refuge System, ideal for wildlife viewing and exploration.
