Twin Bridges offers a well-maintained boat ramp access point on the Snake River near Blackfoot. The ramp features a concrete extension designed to facilitate safe launching of boats of all sizes, particularly during lower water conditions. This is an improved facility that makes accessing the river more manageable than smaller informal put-ins. A use fee is required during the peak season (May 24 – September 30).
The Snake River at this location is a major waterway with significant flow and current. As a major river (Stream Order 9) with an average flow of nearly 50,000 cubic feet per second and average velocity of 10.8 feet per second, paddlers should be prepared for strong currents and swift water conditions. The river's considerable elevation drop and gradient mean conditions can be dynamic, especially during spring runoff. This access point is suitable for experienced kayakers and canoeists familiar with moving water, as well as motorized boaters.
