Flip Rock is a technical Class III+ rapid characterized by a large, partially submerged boulder that creates a powerful hydraulic and demands precise boat positioning. Paddlers must navigate a narrow entry with a strong diagonal current and avoid getting pushed into the rock's recirculating hole, which can easily flip boats and pose significant entrapment risks. The preferred line requires an aggressive move from right to left, using the rock's edge to deflect and maintain momentum through the turbulent downstream section.
