The Tiffany Wildlife Area boat access is located along the Chippewa River between Nelson and Durand in Buffalo County, west of Highway 25. This 718-acre wildlife area offers a scenic launch point for exploring one of Wisconsin's most picturesque river corridors. Access can be reached by driving north from Nelson on Highway 25 for approximately seven miles to a parking area, then traveling overland and across Buffalo Slough to reach the site. Alternatively, boaters can access the area directly by water from nearby Ella, launching across the Chippewa River to the site's north boundary.
The Chippewa River stretch in this area flows through multiple State Natural Areas and provides excellent paddling with outstanding natural views. The river section between Durand and Eau Claire is particularly popular for fishing and wildlife viewing. This access point makes a good base for day trips exploring nearby features like Nine Mile Island and other protected natural areas. Note that this is a more rustic access compared to developed public ramps, so paddlers and boaters should be prepared for limited amenities and plan accordingly.
