Kelly's Corner presents a technical Class III challenge with a sharp left bend that compresses the flow into a narrow chute between exposed boulders. Paddlers must navigate a series of powerful diagonal waves and a potential hydraulic near the inside of the turn, requiring precise boat positioning and aggressive maneuvering to avoid potential pinning or side-surfing hazards. The rapid's tight geometry and gradient demand advanced reading of water and quick reactionary skills to successfully thread the main channel.
