About This Access Site
The Coon Creek boat ramp provides easy access to Kaw Lake, part of the Arkansas River system in north-central Oklahoma. Located about 15 miles northeast of Ponca City, this rural, wooded boat launch is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as part of the Coon Creek Campground.

The ramp offers a convenient put-in point for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats to access Kaw Lake. As a reservoir on the Arkansas River, Kaw Lake is known for its excellent fishing, including catfish, crappie, white bass, and walleye. The lake's shoreline is generally suitable for bank fishing, though there are no other developed boat launches besides Coon Creek.

Campers can find a total of 54 campsites with hookups, drinking water, and flush toilets at the adjacent Coon Creek Campground. For those looking to explore the lake and river, the boat ramp provides a peaceful, scenic launch point to enjoy the natural setting of this area of the Arkansas River basin.
