The Pueblo Reservoir State Wildlife Area offers a convenient boat ramp access point to the Arkansas River and Lake Pueblo. This location is well-suited for kayakers, canoeists, and small boat users looking to explore this scenic reservoir and the flowing waters of the Arkansas River below the dam.
The boat ramp provides easy access to the water, though boaters should note that the south ramp is expected to remain closed for renovations until 2026. An aquatic nuisance species (ANS) stamp, current boat registration, and pre-launch inspection are required before launching. Overnight boat storage and loading/unloading after hours are prohibited.
The Arkansas River in this area is a relatively wide, slow-moving waterway as it flows through the reservoir. The lake offers ample opportunities for paddling, fishing, and other water recreation. Nearby hiking trails along the riverbanks provide beautiful views of the Wet and Greenhorn mountain ranges. Campsites at the adjacent state park can make this a convenient basecamp for a multi-day adventure on the water.
