Dickinson Hollow provides public boat access to the New River in Seminole, Summers County, in southern West Virginia. This access point is maintained by the WVDNR as part of the state's network of over 500 public fishing and boating sites. The ramp accommodates kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats, making it a convenient launch point for exploring this section of the New River.
The New River in this area offers excellent paddling opportunities, with the scenic Bluestone Gorge downstream attracting many paddlers. Just downstream, Bluestone Dam creates Bluestone Lake, the state's third-largest lake with 2,040 acres of surface area. Paddlers should plan their trips accordingly, as conditions change significantly depending on whether you're accessing the river above or below the dam. The site is located in the foothills of the southern Appalachians, a region known for rugged, scenic beauty.
