About This Access Site
Grandview Sandbar offers free, primitive camping and boat ramp access on the New River near Prince, WV. The facility features 10 wooded drive-in sites, 6 walk-in tent sites, and 2 accessible riverside sites. A small boat ramp provides launch and recovery access for kayaks, canoes, and rafts. The campground is first-come, first-served with no reservations required and operates without potable water, electric hookups, or dump stations. Pit toilets and a bathhouse are available on-site. Note that RVs larger than 31.5 feet are not recommended due to the narrow, winding access road off Glade Creek Road.

The New River Gorge is a premier paddling destination, featuring the oldest river on the continent flowing northward through dramatic canyons. Paddlers can expect rugged, whitewater conditions characteristic of this historic waterway. The location provides excellent access to New River Gorge National Park & Preserve for boating, fishing, and hiking opportunities. The nearby town of Prince offers additional services and amenities across the river.
