The Narrows boat ramp provides excellent public access to the New River in Giles County, Virginia. This major river is a Class I-II waterway, with an average flow of over 12,000 cubic feet per second and a moderate gradient of 6.3 feet per mile.
The well-maintained concrete boat ramp is easily accessible, located just off the road with ample parking available. The ramp is suitable for launching a variety of watercraft, from kayaks and canoes to larger power boats. Paddlers will find the river here to be broad and relatively flat, with only minor riffles to navigate.
Nearby amenities include a primitive campground at White Cedar Horse Camp, about 10 miles away. For those looking to extend their trip, there is an additional public access point called Camp Success, located just downstream under the bridge in the town of Narrows. The Narrows boat ramp offers a convenient entry point to explore this scenic section of the New River.
