The Potomac River at this location is a major waterway with an average flow of over 23,000 cubic feet per second and a moderate gradient of approximately 1.7 feet per mile. Paddlers should be prepared for a river with noticeable current and expect faster water conditions, particularly during high flow periods. The area is popular on weekends, so arriving early is recommended if you prefer a quieter launch experience.
