Argo Boat Launch

The Argo boat ramp, located near Rand in Josephine County, serves as a popular access point for the Rogue River's Recreation Section. This ramp is commonly used as either a put-in for downstream trips or a takeout point for multi-day paddling adventures. Argo sits upstream of Grave Creek and downstream of Almeda, making it a convenient mid-section access point for boaters planning 2-3 day trips on this scenic stretch of river.

The waters near Argo feature primarily Class II rapids at normal summer flows, with Argo itself being the most challenging rapid in this section—expect slightly more technical paddling here compared to other nearby sections. This stretch is significantly easier than the famous Wild Section downstream, making it suitable for intermediate paddlers and recreational boaters. Vehicle shuttle services are available through local outfitters at this and nearby ramps (Robertson Bridge, Hog Creek, Ennis, Almeda, and Grave Creek).

Before launching, check current water conditions and confirm access availability, as ramp closures can occur seasonally. No special permits are required for floating this recreation section of the Rogue River.
